WILLIAMSBURG, Va.- The Bucknell men's track & field team has won two straight Colonial Relays and after two days of competition are positioned to conquer again. "It was a very good day for the Bison with the team in a position to win the meet," said head coach Kevin Donner. "Our men were very good in all the event areas and we came out of day two with a sizable lead. This meet is also a war of attrition as injuries and results can change the meet strategy for the final day. It is important for our athletes to get used to competing on back to back days. It is definitely a different feel than competing fresh."
Wade Shomper picked up his second straight win in the outdoor shot put, throwing 17.33m (56-10.25). Three of his four successful attempts crossed the 17 meter mark and his event-winning throw came during his fourth chance.Â
"Today went pretty well for the group," said throws coach Ryan Protzman. "We had PRs from some of our younger athletes and people competing well and scoring points for the team.Â
Ethan Pratt-Perez supplied a second win for Bucknell by dominating the 3000-meter steeplechase. The sophomore ran 9:03.07 over nine seconds faster than his nearest competition.Â
A quartet of Bison finished second. Freshman Colin Krause threw 53.99m (177-1.50) in the javelin throw. The rookie grew stronger as the event progressed and his best throw arrived during his final attempt. Senior Jeffrey Cianfrocca cleared 6-6.25 in the high jump. Ethan Knight dashed 53.29 in the 400-meter hurdles. Ethan Fianko ran 48.45 in the 400-meter dash.Â
Luke Petryna finished third in the 200-meter dash and moved into ninth all-time at Bucknell on the strength of his 21.52 time.Â
Jason Lessieu clinched seventh in the long jump, leaping 22-0.75.
Cooper Hollinger notched eighth place in the 5000-meter run. The rookie logged 14:42.23.Â
The 60th Colonial Relays conclude tomorrow, as Bucknell goes for its third consecutive meet win at the competition. Â
