GREENSBORO, N.C. – Bucknell softball wrapped up day two of the of the UNCG Invitational on Saturday, falling to 0-4 on the weekend as run-scoring troubles continued. The Bison nearly overcame a 3-0 deficit against Loyola Chicago with some seventh-inning magic in game two but came up short.
Senior pitcher Kelly Toomey threw her second complete game of the season against the Ramblers before joining Olivia Marinelli with a loss on Saturday. Senior Nicole Rivait had Bucknell's best day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a walk in game two and 4-for-6 on the evening.

Game One: UNC Greensboro 10, Bucknell 1

UNCG came back with a fury in the bottom of the fourth, however, posting eight runs on eight hits in the frame to end the game in five.
Marinelli threw the first 3.1 innings and struck out four before being replaced, and she received her first loss of the season. Elena Horn had another strong outing during her rookie campaign, going 2-for-3 to lead a Bucknell offense that totaled seven hits.
Rookie Jessie Shipley gave the Spartans the early lead with a two-run home run in the first inning of the game while facing two outs. Marinelli remained in the circle as she held the Spartans off the board over the next two frames.
Bucknell opened the third inning with three straight singles, and Knapp's RBI-single to left got the Bison on the board. The Bison left two runners on in the third and two more in the fourth.
The Spartans took advantage in the bottom half of the fourth, posting eight hits and capitalizing on a pair of Bucknell errors. UNCG racked up a pair of doubles and a three-run homer to go up 10-1. The Bison were unable to recover and went down in five for a fourth time this season.
Game Two: Loyola Chicago 3, Bucknell 1
The Bison had a chance to tie things up late in game two against the Ramblers, as they started a two-out rally with the tying run on second and the go-ahead on base. Loyola Chicago held on for its second win over Bucknell this weekend.
Toomey threw all seven innings, allowing nine hits while striking out seven. She dropped to 2-5 with the loss. Rivait went 3-for-3 in the contest with a walk, and she was the one that started the near-rally in the seventh.

Things went quite through the middle innings, but the Ramblers added another run in the fifth following a leadoff double and a successful RBI bunt.
Trailing by three and with just one out remaining in the bottom of the seventh, Rivait, Knapp and Juliette Basso singled one after the other.
