About Bucknell
- The fourth-seeded Bucknell volleyball team visits fifth-seeded Loyola on Tuesday for the quarterfinal round of the 2022 Patriot League Tournament. It's Bucknell's first appearance in the tournament since 2010 and its 19th Patriot League postseason appearance overall. The Bison also made eight appearances in the East Coast Conference Tournament between 1982 and 1989.
- Bucknell enters the Patriot League Tournament having won each of its last three matches. The Bison have defeated American, Loyola and Navy over the past two weekends.
- The Bison secured the No. 4 seed with an 8-8 league record. Bucknell swept both Lafayette and American, was swept by Army and Colgate, and split with the rest of the league. While Bucknell split with the 8-8 Greyhounds and both teams earned their respective wins over each other 3-1, the Greyhounds have a win over No. 2 Army, giving them the tiebreaker with a victory over a higher seed than Bucknell.
- Bucknell finished the regular season tied for the third-most overall wins this season at 15. They're the most wins the Bison have collected in a single campaign since 2006. Bucknell picked up six 3-0 sweeps during the regular season and was swept just twice. The Bison are 4-4 in five-set matches this season, six of which came during Patriot League play.
- Bucknell concluded the regular season with a 3-2 win at Navy. The Bison fell behind 2-0 in sets Sunday night before winning the last three, totaling 12 blocks and 13 service aces. Freshman Tijana Kostic led the team with a career-high 19 kills and six block assists. It was Bucknell's first win over the Mids since 2015. For her efforts, Kostic was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week for a second consecutive week on Monday.
- Bucknell freshman outside hitter Bri Frazilus was recognized as the 2022 Patriot League Rookie of the Year when the league announced postseason awards on Monday. She became Bucknell's first Rookie of the Year since 2000. Frazilus was joined on the All-Patriot League Second Team by sophomore libero Jordan Hardy. It's Bucknell's first time with an All-League honoree since 2017 and its first time having multiple honorees since 2008.
- Frazilus led the Bison in total kills (283) and kills per set (3.18) this season. She also added 200 digs, finishing the regular season with eight double-doubles. She's tied with teammate Catherine Jamison for sixth in the Patriot League in kills per set.
- Hardy was narrowly edged by PL Libero of the Year Katie Forsythe for the Patriot League lead in digs per set and currently ranks sixth in the nation with 5.66. Her 566 digs this fall rank second in the Bucknell record book for a single season. She's currently 46 digs shy of Bucknell's all-time single-season record and 51 shy of reaching 1,000 digs for her career.
- Jamison is second on the Bison roster with 261 total kills. She's been in double figures in 15 matches this season but has totaled just six over the last two. She sports a .246 hitting percentage.
- Junior Valentina Feigl ranks ninth in the Patriot League with a .276 hitting percentage. She's third on the team with 106 kills and first with 66 total blocks.
- In blocks per set, Jen Sivak (1.02) and Allie Lopez (0.84) lead the team and rank sixth and 10th in the Patriot League, respectively.
- Freshman setter Caleigh O'Connell is seventh in the Patriot League with 5.56 assists per set. She's totaled 545 on the season, including a season-high 43 in a win over American. She's reached 40 assists three times this season, including twice in the past three matches.
- Bucknell head coach Tyler Hagstrom is in his third season at the helm of the program. He has a 23-31 overall record and a 12-24 mark in Patriot League play. Hagstrom is joined by second-year assistant Jeremy Young.
- Bucknell is 11-21 in 18 all-time Patriot League Tournaments appearances. This is Bucknell's first time in the Patriot League Tournament since the league moved to a six-team format, last earning a berth in 2010.
- Bucknell has won the Patriot League Championship two times; 1998 and 2000. The Bison defeated Colgate in the finals both times.
- Bucknell is 6-15 in Patriot League Tournament matches against the other five teams that qualified this season. Bucknell has never faced Loyola in the postseason.
- The Bison are 4-6 this season against the five other teams in the Patriot League Tournament.
- Bucknell's last win in the Patriot League Tournament was against Army in the semifinal round in 2006.
- Loyola enters the tournament as the No. 4 seed after finishing the regular season 10-13 overall and 8-8 in Patriot League play. The Greyhounds have lost three matches in a row. Loyola is 6-2 when playing at home in Reitz Arena.
- The Greyhounds finished the regular season atop the league in both kills (13.64/S) and assists (12.74/S).
- Loyola also finished first in the league with 17.85 digs per set, led by five-time Patriot League Libero of the Year Katie Forsythe. Forsythe holds the league's record in career digs with 2,682. By earning the award on Monday, Forsythe made conference history by becoming the first volleyball player to earn an end-of-the-year award five times.
- Loyola's Lauren Link finished first in the Patriot League with 4.57 kills per set and earned a First Team All-Patriot League nod.
- Loyola has made the Patriot League Tournament in three of the last four seasons. The Greyhounds fell to American 3-2 in last year's quarterfinal round.
- Loyola is led by head coach Alija Pittenger, who in eight seasons with the program has a 77-128 record. She has a 190-205 career record, spending six seasons at Fairfield.
- Bucknell is 17-13 in the all-time series with Loyola, dating back to 1984. The Greyhounds swept the Bison last season for the first time since joining the Patriot League, but the two teams split their two matches this fall.
- Loyola won 3-1 in Baltimore, Md. in the first meeting this season on Sept. 30, then Bucknell claimed a 3-1 win at home two matches ago on Nov. 5. In the most recent meeting, Bison freshmen Tijana Kostic and Bri Frazilus combined for 19 kills, while Loyola's Lauren Link totaled 24. Loyola held a 49-37 edge in kills in the match, but the Bison limited the Greyhounds to a .016 hitting percentage thanks in large part to 21 team blocks, which were a season high. Kostic also added nine block assists, which were one shy of Bucknell's single-match record.
- The Bison nearly erased a 2-0 deficit in sets during the first match this season, but the Greyhounds held on to win the fourth 26-24. Frazilus supplied 17 kills and 11 digs in the loss, while Catherine Jamison posted 16 kills and a .314 hitting percentage.
With a win against Loyola on Tuesday, Bucknell would advance to the Patriot League semifinals and face either top-seeded Colgate or No. 2 seed Army, depending on the result of Tuesday's American-Navy quarterfinal match. The semifinal round is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 19.
