Field Hockey Dropped by Lehigh 3-2 in Overtime for First League Loss

Bucknell trailed 2-0 with 20 minutes left in the contest before scoring two unanswered to go to overtime for a second time this season. Bucknell's offense was slow out of the gate as it attempted just one shot in the first half. The Mountain Hawks ended up with an 11-8 advantage in shots and saw seven penalty corner opportunities compared to Bucknell's three. Four of the five goals in the game were scored on corners, including both of Bucknell's.
Kira Leclercq joined Apa with a goal, and Sydney White scored two of Lehigh's goals. Mackenzie Kile (2), Leclercq (1) and Isabella Pavlides (1) accounted for Bucknell's four assists. Kile is now up to 29 career assists, sitting just behind school record holders Amanda Faust and Corinne Raczek, who each have 34.
Lehigh opened the scoring in the 24th minute following a scoreless first quarter and would carry the 1-0 lead into halftime. Lily Neilson attempted Bucknell's only shot of the first 30 minutes, which was saved by Lehigh goalkeeper Maddie Kahn.
Lehigh extended its lead to 2-0 in the 40th minute, but this time Bucknell responded 51 seconds later with the Apa goal.
Down to its last few chances, Bucknell capitalized on the late penalty corner with under three minutes to go to send the contest to overtime. It took the Mountain Hawks less than a minute to score on their first penalty corner of overtime.
Kahn ended up with four saves, while Bison goalkeeper Clara McCormick posted five.
