Bucknell Men's Water Polo Falls to George Washington, 11-9

WASHINGTON – The Bucknell University men's water polo team fell 11-9 to No. 19 George Washington on Saturday afternoon to fall to 9-7 overall and 6-2 in MAWPC games this season.

The Bison couldn't overcome a 3-0 second quarter by the Colonials after a bright start in which Bucknell led 4-3 after the opening eight minutes. The two teams remained close in the third, with Bucknell outscoring the Colonials 2-1, but a four-goal fourth by the home team helped GW hang on for an 11-9 win and extend its program-record winning streak to 11 games.

Jack Lewis continued his excellent run of form in the defeat, accounting for three goals. Teammate and fellow senior Andu Vlasceanu also netted a hat trick. Shay Gillearn added a pair of goals, while Aleksa Stefanovic accounted for Bucknell's other goal.

Senior Adrien Touzot registered 14 saves in the defeat, while Matt Ryckman drew four ejections.

Bucknell returns to action on Saturday at Kinney Natatorium when it hosts Johns Hopkins and George Washington at 12 and 6 p.m., respectively.
