Women's Basketball to Host Navy in Home Patriot League Battle
1/4/2022 2:52:00 PM | Women's Basketball
LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell women's basketball hosts Navy at Sojka Pavilion on Wednesday for its first home Patriot League contest of the season. The Bison are looking to bounce back from a loss at Army on Sunday, which snapped an eight-game winning streak.
Though Navy sits at 3-9 overall and 0-2 in league play, no team has been able to slow down senior guard Jennifer Coleman. Coleman leads the league in a host of categories (scoring, rebounding, assists, steals), and she's eclipsed 20 points in all but one contest this season. Navy will be looking to upend the Bison for the first time since 2018.
Sitting right behind Coleman in scoring is Bucknell's Taylor O'Brien. The senior guard scored a career-high 25 points in Sunday's game at Army and is averaging 18.8 per game this season. She leads a Bison offense that ranks third in the Patriot League in scoring. The Bison's second-ranked defense will also look to get back on track against a Navy team that is posting just 56.8 points per game.
Home court advantage is on the Bison's side on Wednesday. Bucknell has lost just three home games since the start of the 2018-19 season and has yet to be defeated in regular season Patriot League play at Sojka Pavilion under head coach Trevor Woodruff, who carries a 42-10 overall record since arriving in Lewisburg.
