RESULTS
HAMILTON, N.Y. – Buoyed by a 3-under-par 69 in the first round, Bucknell senior Jason Lohwater is just two shots off the individual lead heading into Sunday's final round of the season-opening Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational, hosted by Colgate at Seven Oaks Golf Club. With team scores of 293 and 298 on Saturday, the Bison sit in fifth place in a 13-team field.
Lohwater, a Rochester native who has historically played well at Seven Oaks, birdied his first two holes of the season (the par-4 9th and 10th) en route to that opening 69. After a couple of bogeys brought him back to even par, Lohwater went eagle-birdie at 5 and 6 to grab a share of the 18-hole lead alongside Angus O'Brien of Seton Hall.
Lohwater followed with a 74 in the second round, and at 1-under 143 through 36 holes, he sits just two shots behind co-leaders Dugan McCabe of Colgate and Teddy Zinsner of Yale. Brandon Gillis of Rhode Island shot 67 in the second round and is third at 2-under, followed by Lohwater and Seton Hall's Gregor Tait at 1-under. Four others are at even par followed by another seven players at 1-over near the top of a crowded leaderboard.
Yale shot 287-285, and at 4-under as a team has opened up a seven-shot lead on second-place Colgate. Rhode Island is third at 586, while Seton Hall (587) and Bucknell (591) round out the top five.
Jack Gardner fired a pair of 73s for the Bison, and he sits T-17th at 2-over 146. Jackson Bussell posted a pair of 74s, followed by two freshmen making their collegiate debuts. Michael Rudnick shot 77-77, and Jake Maddaloni posted 78-77. Blake Wisdom carded 77-79 in the play-6, count-4 scoring format.
Sunday's final round gets underway at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start. The Bison will be paired with Seton Hall and Cornell.
