Men's Cross Country Competes in Gold Race at Paul Short Invite on Friday Morning

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell University men's cross country team is set to return to action after a three-week hiatus in competing at the Paul Short Run on Friday. Bucknell will compete in the Gold race at 11:00 a.m. on Friday in a field of 40 teams that includes fellow Patriot League schools Army, American, Boston University, Lafayette, Lehigh, and Navy.
Bucknell, ranked tenth in the latest USTFCCCA Mid-Atlantic Regional Poll, will see several of the top teams in the region at the meet. Three of the top five teams in the latest Mid-Atlantic Region Poll will be in attendance with Villanova (1), Princeton (3), and Navy (4) all in the Gold race.

- Bucknell will be returning to action for the first time since competing at the Father Bede Invite on September 11.
- The meet will be the penultimate meet of the regular season for the Bison, who will send runners to the FSU Invite/Pre-Nationals and the Leopard Invite on October 16.
- Bucknell had a strong showing at the Father Bede Invite, taking the top 12 spots in a dual meet win at Saint Francis (Pa.).
- Brendan Mellitt earned the victory on the day (27:36.7) after placing second at the Bison Open one week prior. The sophomore from Cheshire, Conn. was followed by Owen Chase (27:37.3), Brendan O'Toole (27:37.3), Stephen Schousen (27:37.3) and Michael Donnelly (27:37.9).
- Donnelly also claimed the individual title at the Bison Open in the opening week of the season (20:29.8).
- Bucknell last competed at the Paul Short Run in 2019, taking 20th in the field of 44 in the Brown Race. Noah Martin, Domenic Campagna, and Ryan Miele all return to this year's roster after competing in that race. Campagna (25:34.1) was 81st overall, Miele finished 175th (26:11.7), and Martin took 187th in the field of 394.
- Matt Cervon is the only active Bison to have competed at the 2018 edition of the Paul Short Run, where the senior from Wellesley Hills, Mass. finished 169th on the 8K course.
- Bucknell will have the week off after the Paul Short Run before heading to the FSU Invite/Pre-Nationals and the Leopard Invite on October 16. Bucknell then returns to Bethlehem for two straight meets. The Patriot League Championships take place on October 30, while the Mid-Atlantic Regional Meet is slated for November 12.
