LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell men's tennis team was one of 145 Division I programs to be named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team on Monday. Additionally, six members of the Bucknell team earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must have a grade-point average of at least 3.5 for the current academic year. ITA All-Academic Teams are programs that have a GPA of 3.2 or above.
As a team, Bucknell achieved a 3.7 GPA during the 2020-21 academic year, including a 3.72 mark during the fall semester. Bucknell was one of four Patriot League programs to receive the ITA All-Academic Team designation.
Ryan Jurist, Marwan Abaza, Cooper Bradshaw, Nick Mueller, Michael Owen and Guillermo Torres each received Scholar-Athlete recognition, joining 1,048 other student-athletes across NCAA Division I men's tennis.
This is the eighth consecutive year that Bucknell has earned ITA All-Academic Team status, and it's the team's second consecutive year with six Scholar-Athlete honorees.
