Women's Swim & Dive Adds Seven-Time PIAA State Champion Abby Doss as Transfer

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Head coach Dan Schinnerer announced on Tuesday that Abby Doss will join the Bucknell women's swimming & diving team as a transfer.
"We are very excited to have Abby join our team," Schinnerer said. "I've had the pleasure of watching her swim career progress since she is from the area. I have seen what a talented and hard-working young woman she is."
Doss, a seven-time PIAA state champion and eight-time YMCA national champion, will join the Bison from North Carolina State University. She attended nearby Shamokin Area High School and also competed for Sunbury YMCA, later known as the Greater Susquehanna Valley YMCA.
Doss is one of 12 newcomers Bucknell will welcome this fall. Earlier this June, Schinnerer announced the addition of 11 first years.
The Bison are in the midst of a historically successful period. Over the course of the 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21 campaigns, they went a combined 21-2 (16-2 Patriot League) in dual meet competition, with their two losses coming to Patriot League champion Navy. They wrapped up their 2019-20 dual meet schedule with a sterling 10-1 (7-1 Patriot League) ledger. With their rivalry win over Lehigh, they reached the double digits in victories during a single season for the sixth time in program history.

Before Bucknell: Competed at the 2021 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 400-meter freestyle … swam four different individual events as a first year at North Carolina State University during the 2020-21 campaign … swam for Shamokin Area High School … won seven PIAA state titles, including four in the 500 freestyle and three in the 200 IM … was a four-time District 4 champion in both the 500 freestyle and the 200 IM … graduated with district records in both events … also swam for Sunbury YMCA, later known as the Greater Susquehanna Valley YMCA … won a total of eight YMCA national titles … in 2016, was the 200-meter IM national champion … in 2018, was the national champion in the 400-meter freestyle, 800-meter freestyle and 200-meter IM … in 2019, was the national champion in the 200-meter freestyle, 400-meter freestyle, 800-meter freestyle and 200-meter IM … helped team finish as the 2019 YMCA district runner-up … finished YMCA career as the long-course national record holder in the 400-meter freestyle … four-time Daily Item Girls Swimmer of the Year.
