Bucknell Rowing Team Takes on Ithaca in Final Test Before Patriot League Championships

SHAMOKIN DAM, Pa. – The Bucknell rowing team hosted Ithaca for a Senior Day scrimmage on Saturday on the Susquehanna River. As both teams are preparing for upcoming postseason competitions, the modified racing program consisted of four segments at approximately 775 meters with floating starts.
The first three pieces were done upstream into a strong current at headwind, and the last piece went downstream with a diminishing tailwind.
Bucknell's Second Varsity Eight, Third Varsity Eight and Fourth Varsity Eight competed against Ithaca's Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight and Third Varsity Eight.
The Bombers, ranked third nationally in Division 3 rowing, have already won their third straight Liberty League championship and are preparing for the NCAA Championships in Sarasota, Fla., on May 28-29. Meanwhile, the Bison will be at the Patriot League Championships on the Cooper River next Friday.
After the competition Bucknell honored its 16 seniors in the team's annual oar ceremony. This year's seniors are Caitlin Cobb, Ciara Davis, Ally Demas, Emily Downing, Madie Henderson, Talia Housman, Kiera Mastropietro, Casey Miller, Meredith Newman, Alex Rothstein, Anna Scheitler, Kassia Schubert, Daniela Sciulli, Katie Slade, Olivia Smith and Olivia Zavrel.
