Alex Butz Named to Academic All-League Team for Second Time

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. --Â Alex Butz has been named to the Patriot League All-Academic Team for the second time in her career, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon.Â
Butz, a senior pole vaulter and high jumper from Parkton, Md., has enjoyed an impressive senior season in earning her first Patriot League gold medal in the high jump at the outdoor championships (5-6.5) while also scoring in the pole vault with a sixth-place finish (12-3.5).Â
The academic award for Butz is the second of her career, after she was named to the All-Academic Team during the 2020 indoor season.Â
In the high jump, Butz moved all the way up to fourth on Bucknell's all-time list with her personal best mark with Karen Middleton. Earlier this year, Butz also set a new personal best in the pole vault (12-5.5) at the Virginia Opener, which ranks second on Bucknell's all-time list.Â
A global management major with a cumulative GPA of 3.88, Butz earned her first career gold medal in the high jump after finishing second for three straight years indoors, and improved from a fourth-place finish at the 2020 Championships. Additionally, Butz has also earned All-East recognition in both events during her career.Â
Bucknell has had at least one representative on the Academic All-Patriot League Team in each year since 2011.Â
