ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Bucknell men's golf team endured a challenging opening day at the Patriot League Championship, posting team scores of 300 and 311 at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course. The Bison are in fourth place with 18 holes remaining in the tournament.
Bucknell's 611 total leads Army (612), Lehigh (621), Colgate (627) and Holy Cross (636). Loyola holds the overnight lead by nine shots over Lafayette and Navy. The Greyhounds compiled 288 team totals in both rounds for a 576 composite, compared to 585 for the Leopards and Midshipmen.
Jackson Bussell's 2-over-par 72 was Bucknell's best score in Saturday's opening round, followed by a trio of 76s from Blake Wisdom, Chris Tanabe and Josh Holtschlag. Bussell sat in a tie for fourth place after the first round, but he fell out of contention with an 83 in the afternoon.
