"I thought we had a real good meet," said Head Coach Kevin Donner. "Once again, I am very pleased with our balance. Our sprints and hurdles had a great day, and our vertical jumps were outstanding. We had a number of all-time top 10 marks in the high jump and pole vault from our young athletes. Meghan Quinn had a huge day in the 100 and the 200, and it was good to see Karen Hull back in the 100 hurdles after hurting herself last week. Winning the meet is always nice as well. Army did not bring their entire team, but we held out a few of our better athletes as well including Ashley Blair, Maura Fiamoncini, and Ashlyn Ramos."
Bucknell had several athletes post top ten marks in school history at the meet in taking first place overall with 213 points. Lehigh (172) Army (128) and Colgate (23) also competed.
Meghan Quinn (12.10) had a strong day in both sprinting events in winning the 100 ahead of Jazmine Alderman of Army (12.27). Quinn's time is a new personal-best, and ranks in a tie for sixth in the Bucknell record books with Yetunde Daniels.
In the 200, Quinn also took first (25.20), just off a Bucknell top ten spot. Quinn was followed by Bridget Lalonde (25.88) in second place.
First year Karen Hull (14.56) also continued her strong start to her career in winning the 100m hurdles. Hull was the only competitor to break the 15-second barrier, and her time is a personal best. The time for Hull ranks in a tie for seventh on Bucknell's all-time list. Abby Eisold (15.14) was second.
The high jump proved to be a strong event for the Bison on the day, with Olivia Boyce, Taylor O'Brien, and Abby Kates each clearing 5-5, which moves Boyce and Kates into a tie for eighth on Bucknell's all-time list. O'Brien, the school-record holder in the high jump outdoors, made her season debut for the Orange and Blue.
Jennifer Scott impressed in the pole vault once again, clearing 12-00 to finish in a tie for first with Samantha Sheppard-Moore of Army. The mark for Scott moves her up to fourth on Bucknell's all-time list in a tie with Rebecca Frey. Alex Butz, who moved into Bucknell's second spot in the season opener, finished third (11-6.25). Anna Kender and Emily Heese (11-0.25) tied for fourth.
In the long jump, Gianna Macones took first (18-7), which is good for the ninth spot on Bucknell's all-time list. Macones also placed third in the triple jump (36-10.25).
Also earning an individual win was Jessie Castellano, who finished first in the 400 (58.30) Castellano was the only competitor to break the 58-second barrier in the field of eight. Delia Sipe (43-07.25) placed third in a strong field in the shot put while also placing ninth in the discus. Abby Whitaker (138-00) was runner-up in the discus.
Madison McGloin, who moved into the seventh spot in the hammer last week, finished fourth in a tough field in the women's hammer throw that included Abigail Green of Army (197-00), who was not far off the Bucknell record set by Maria Garcia in 2004 (202-08).
Tara Lyons had a solid day in the mid-distance, finishing fourth in the 1500 (4:47.01) and fifth in the 800 (2:18.68).
Bucknell will return to Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium on Sunday, April 18 against Army and Detroit Mercy.
