Swim & Dive Excels in Opener at Colgate

HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Bucknell swimming & diving teams excelled in their season opener against Colgate on Saturday at Lineberry Natatorium.
The Bison combined to win 12 individual events and three relays. A pair of first years shined in their collegiate debut. On the men's side, Noah Basista won the 100 breaststroke and 100 butterfly and swam the second leg for both first-place relay teams. For the women, Caroline Mahoney outraced the field in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke and led off the first-place 200 medley relay team.
Patriot League champions Maddie Hartigan and Maggie Wyngowski resumed their winning ways, taking first in the 100 freestyle and 200 IM respectively; in addition, Hartigan anchored the 200 medley relay squad. Leo Kuyl also impressed, winning the 50 freestyle and anchoring both first-place relay teams.
On the women's side, Bucknell went 1-2-3 in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 200 IM and the 200 medley relay.
The meet against the Raiders was not scored. The Bison return to the pool on Saturday, March 20 with an away meet against Army West Point.
