Bucknell Women at a Glance
• The Bison opened their 2020-21 season with an unscored meet at Colgate on March 6. First year Caroline Mahoney outraced the field in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke and led off the first-place 200 medley relay team.
• Bucknell wrapped up its 2019-20 dual meet schedule with a sterling 10-1 (7-1 PL) record. With their rivalry win over Lehigh, the Bison reached the double digits in victories during a single season for the sixth time in program history. They previously accomplished the feat in 1980-81 (11-2), 1984-85 (10-4), 1993-94 (10-1), 1994-95 (10-1) and 1997-1998 (11-2).
• Over the previous two seasons, Bucknell posted a combined dual meet record of 18-2 (13-2 PL); both of the team's losses came to reigning Patriot League champion Navy.
• The Bison placed second at the 2020 Patriot League Championships with 533 points. The Bison, who finished as the Patriot League runners-up for the 12th time in program history and the first time since 2015, were bolstered by eight-medal winning performances, including a golden showing by Maggie Wyngowski in the 400 IM behind an NCAA 'B' cut time.
• Seven Bison were honored on the 2020 All-Patriot League Team: Wyngowski (1st), Maddie Hartigan (1st), Catherine Craig (2nd), Emily Gorham (2nd), Emma Hadley (2nd), Abby Merriman (2nd) and Sabrina Vumbacco (2nd). Vumbacco was also named the Rookie of the Patriot League Championship meet.
• Bucknell's total of All-Patriot League selections was its highest since 2015, when nine Bison made the All-Patriot League squad.
• Of Bucknell's 2020 All-Patriot League honorees, Hadley and Merriman were lost to graduation.
• Hartigan and Wyngowski are the team's returning school record holders. Hartigan owns the standards in the 200 freestyle (1:48.22) and the 500 freestyle (4:46.48) while Wyngowski is listed first in the 200 breaststroke (2:14.54), the 200 IM (2:00.15) and the 400 IM (4:15.26).
• Gorham (200 freestyle), Hartigan (800 freestyle) and Wyngowski (200 medley) swam on relay teams that set school records.
Bucknell Men at a Glance
• Bucknell began its 2020-21 campaign with an unscored meet at Colgate on March 6. Freshman Noah Basista won the 100 breaststroke and 100 butterfly and swam the second leg for both first-place relay teams.
• The Bison placed fourth at the 2020 Patriot League Championships with 342.5 points. A highlight of the meet for the Bison was a bronze-medal performance by the 400 freestyle relay team of Matt McGoey, Matt Mills, Jack Rose and Leo Kuyl.
• Bucknell wrapped up its 2019-20 dual meet season with a 5-6 (4-4 PL) record.
• The Bison's 5-2 start was its best since the 2013-14 campaign. That season, they went 5-1 (4-0 PL) in their first six duals en route to a 7-3 (5-1 PL) record.
• Bucknell returned 2020 Academic All-Patriot League pick Garrett Sommer, a diver who has scored 68 career points at the Patriot League Championships.
• Returnees Kuyl (400 freestyle), Jacob Lubinski (400 medley), Mills (400 freestyle) and Rose (200 medley, 400 freestyle) swam on relay teams that set school records.
• The Bison lost McGoey to graduation. A two-time All-Patriot League pick, he won one Patriot League medal and set the school record in the 200 IM (1:47.84).
Army West Point Women at a Glance
• Army West Point is currently 1-1 on the season with its victory coming over Boston College, 151-127.
• In 2019-20, the Black Knights posted a 6-3 (2-2 PL) record in dual meets. They went on to place fourth at the Patriot League Championships with 471 points.
• The Bison lead the all-time series with the Black Knights, 19-8, bolstered by a 14-meet winning streak between 2002 and 2015.
• The teams met at Kinney Natatorium during the 2019-20 campaign. Six individual swimmers and one relay team combined to win 10 events to help Bucknell drop Army West Point, 164-136.
Army West Point Men at a Glance
• Army West Point is currently 1-1 on the season with its victory coming over Boston College, 191-88.
• In 2019-20, the Black Knights went 6-2-1 (3-1 PL) in dual meet action.
• At the 2020 Patriot League Championships, Army West Point was the runner-up with 721 points. The Black Knights have finished second to Navy at the past eight Patriot League Championships.
• Army West Point leads the all-time series with Bucknell, 29-5, and is currently riding an eight-meet winning streak.
• The Bison next welcome Lehigh to Kinney Natatorium on Saturday, March 27.
