Men's Tennis Opens Patriot League Play on Saturday

The Bucknell men's tennis team was originally scheduled to play Fordham on Sunday, April 4, but that match has been canceled.

About the Bison
• Bucknell prepares for two more matches this weekend, including its first Patriot League match of the season against Colgate. Bucknell last faced a Patriot League team on April 19, 2019. Bucknell will also take on Fordham at the USTA National Tennis Center, the home of the US Open, on Sunday.
• Bucknell went 5-3 in Patriot League play in 2019 and is 11-12 in the conference under head coach Bruce Myers. Senior Marwan Abaza and junior Cooper Bradshaw are the only active members of the roster that have played in Patriot League competition.
• Bucknell fell to 1-5 over the weekend after suffering a pair of losses to a tough Temple team.
• One Bison who was a winner over the weekend was sophomore Nick Mueller, who picked up his fourth singles victory of the season on Sunday. Mueller has won all three matches he's played on court three this season.
• Senior Marwan Abaza and sophomore Michael Owen have split time at No.1 singles. Abaza is 1-2 while Owen is 2-1. Abaza was 8-4 in the top spot last season, but has missed two matches this spring.
• Owen and Bradshaw sport the Bison's best double record at 3-3. The pair is 3-2 when playing at No. 1 and took a loss while playing at No. 3 singles on Sunday.
• Bucknell won four of six singles matches and all three doubles matchups in the season-opening win over Saint Francis back on March 6.

Scouting the Raiders/Series History
• Colgate is 2-3 this spring and 2-1 in Patriot League play. The Raiders collected wins over Holy Cross and Boston U., but took a loss on Saturday to Lehigh.
• Colgate senior Francis Scott Bickel has played all five matches at No. 1 singles and is 3-2. Juniors Rohan Gupta and Nick Potter have played all five matches at No. 1 doubles and are 1-4.
• Bucknell last faced Colgate on April 1, 2019 and won 4-2 in Syracuse, N.Y. The Raiders defeated Bucknell by the same score in the Patriot League quarterfinal round a year earlier.
