About the Bison
- Bucknell returns to the diamond after a successful weekend in taking three out of four from Army, the defending Patriot League Champion in 2019. The Black Knights were picked to finish second in this year's preseason poll.
- The last time Bucknell took three out of four against Army was on April 11-12, 2015 at Depew Field in which Bucknell won the first three games in the series.
- Chris Cannizzaro was the only Bison to play and start all four games over the weekend while hitting over .300 (4-for-13), and belted his first home run of the season in Bucknell's series finale. Cannizzaro now has three home runs in his career after hitting two in the series against Virginia last season, and also leads the Patriot League in triples (3).
- Also managing to go yard in the series finale was sophomore Henry Novicki, who managed a shot to right center to cut Army's lead to 6-2 at the time. Novicki's home run was the second of the season, after his two-run home run in the opening game against Mount St. Mary's in the tenth inning.
- The 14 runs by the Bison in a 14-5 game two win were the most by the Bison since a 23-14 defeat to NJIT on March 1, 2020. Bucknell last scored 14 runs or more in a win on April 12, 2015 against the Black Knights at Depew Field (14-1 W).
- Jacob Terwilliger managed a career-best three hits in Bucknell's 14-5 win, going 3-for-4 from the plate with three RBIs. Terwilliger, who has also been solid out of the bullpen pitching this season, also managed two runs scored in the game.
- Grant Voytovich also managed two hits in that game with two runs scored. Voytovich, who had not registered a hit entering the game, tallied two hits in back-to-back appearances, while adding three runs scored over that time span.
- Brenden Tuttle provided another quality outing for the Bison, pitching 6.2 shutout innings while striking out seven batters in a 4-0 game one win. The Bison last shut out Army on March 23, 2019, when Nate Grisius threw seven scoreless innings while allowing just two hits.
- Tuttle, who has a 4.20 ERA this season, earned his first win of the campaign on Saturday, and leads the team in strikeouts with 19. Tuttle's 19 strikeouts are tied for fourth in the Patriot League, with teammate Will Greer taking up the next spot on the list with 18.
- Greer pitched six innings on Saturday, allowing six hits and two earned runs for his second win of the season. Greer has now won three of his past four starts, and has an ERA of 1.00 this season, which is third in the Patriot League, and the lowest by any player with at least three appearances.
- Chris Difiore made his first career start in Sunday's win, and capped off three straight impressive pitching performances for the Bison in going six innings while allowing five hits and a single earned run. Difiore managed a career-best six strikeouts while walking three batters.
- Offensively, Kendall Pierson posted a huge game on Sunday in the penultimate game of the series, knocking in a three-RBI triple and a two-RBI double for a career-best five RBIs. The hits were the first for extra bases in Pierson's career.
- Pitt enters the game at 11-5 after taking two of three at Virginia over the weekend.
- The Bison are 20-28 all-time against the Panthers, with the two teams last meeting in 2019.
- The Bison dropped an 8-2 decision to the Panthers, with Chris Cannizzaro and Brendan Lowery the only current Bison to appear in that game played in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
- Nico Popa and Kyle Hess are both hitting .314 for the Panthers with 15 RBIs.
- The Mids have been limited to four games this season, but are unbeaten in those four games.
- Navy took two games from Coppin State and two from George Mason, with the most recent appearance for Navy coming on February 28.
- Navy has had its last 13 scheduled games either canceled or postponed.
- The Bison are scheduled for four games at Holy Cross on April 3-4.
