LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell women's track & field senior Michaela Bracken was named the Bison of the Week on Monday following her record-setting performance at the Bison Opener on Friday. Bracken, a native of Vintondale, Pa., broke a 14-year-old school record with her 3,538 points in the pentathlon. It's Bracken's first time being named Bison of the Week.
In Friday's pentathlon, Bracken placed second in the 800 (2:23.67), third in the 60m hurdles (9.20), second in high jump (5-04.5), third in long jump (17-09.0) and eighth in shot put (28-02.75) to finish second overall at the first indoor meet of the season.

She eclipsed the previous school record (3,504), which was set by Nina Reinhardt in 2007, by 34 points. Bracken's previous best was 3,300 points, which she set at the 2020 Bison Open and Multi meet. That mark was good enough for ninth on the all-time top ten list.
Bracken and the Bison won't compete again until after the semester break. Bucknell's next competition is the Nittany Lion Challenge in State College, Pa. on Saturday, Jan. 15.
