
Women's Basketball Continues Road Swing with Trip to Iona Tuesday

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell women's basketball plays its first Tuesday night game of the season and is looking to get back to .500 with a win. It's Bucknell's fourth consecutive road game to begin the year, which hasn't happened since the 2014-15 season. With a win, the Bison will even the all-time series with the Gaels at 5-5.
 Iona is looking to snap a two-game losing skid and improve to 3-2 as well as capture its first win over the Bison since 2010. Like the Bison, the Gaels are at their best when limiting teams through defense and sport the second-best scoring defense in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with 58.3 points allowed per game. Offensively, the Gaels are powered by junior guard Juana Camilion who currently sits 10th in the conference in scoring.
 Tuesday's game is the first of three for Bucknell as it heads to Burlington, Vt. to take part in the TD Bank Classic this weekend.

 • Bucknell plays its fourth consecutive road game to begin the 2021-22 season when it visits Iona in New Rochelle, N.Y. on Tuesday. The Bison are looking to even their record at 2-2 following a loss at Temple on Saturday.
• Iona is 2-2 to begin the season, winning its first two games against Bryant and Winthrop before dropping its last two to UMass and Stony Brook.Â
• Bucknell is one of five Patriot League teams seeking a second win on the early season this week, while Lehigh leads the conference at 4-1 overall.
• Senior guard Taylor O'Brien is leading the team with 16 points per game this season, which ranks fourth in the Patriot League. She scored in double figures for a 10th consecutive game on Saturday dating back to last season. The Lafayette Hill, Pa. native also finished one rebound shy of her fourth career double-double.
• O'Brien was joined in double figures by junior Carly Krsul (12), who scored a career-high 13 points in Bucknell's win over Fairleigh Dickinson last week. Krsul posted nine boards against Temple as well.
• The Bison played a conference-only schedule last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Bucknell faced just three different opponents due to cancelations and posted an undefeated regular season (8-0) for the first time in program history. Bucknell fell to eventual-champion Lehigh in the Patriot League semifinals, snapping an 18-game winning streak that dated back to 2019-20. The Bison previously defeated the Mountain Hawks in all four regular season meetings.Â
 • Bucknell finished among the top 3 in the Patriot League in a number of statistical categories last season, including scoring offense, scoring defense, scoring margin, rebounding margin, and more. Additionally, the Bison ranked second in the nation in assist/turnover ratio, fifth in turnovers, sixth in free-throw percentage and first in turnovers per game.
 • Bucknell has seen some of its most successful seasons in program history over recent years, including five first-place regular season finishes and two Patriot League Championship titles in the last seven seasons. Bucknell has finished atop the conference in the regular season in each of the last three, going 61-14 overall during that stretch.
 • Bison head coach Trevor Woodruff is in his third season with the team, and he was named the Patriot League Coach of the Year in each of his first two. Bucknell has gone 24-2 in Patriot League play under his direction.
 • Bucknell lost four starters to graduation in the spring and is entering the 2021-22 season with seven underclassmen. Bucknell's most decorated returner, Taylor O'Brien, was a First Team All-Patriot League selection last season after finishing fourth in the conference in scoring with 16.3 points per game. She was also second on the roster in rebounding.

• Iona leads the all-time series 5-4 against Bucknell. The two teams first met in 1992, with the Gael earning the first victory in the series. Bucknell has won the last two matchups.
• Bucknell cruised to an 81-43 win in the most recent game, which was played at Sojka Pavilion on Dec. 2, 2018. Three Bison scored in double figures in the win, led by 20 points for Kaitlyn Slagus. Ellie Mack also recorded a double-double in the decisive victory. The Bison limited Iona to 29.3 percent shooting while hitting on 46.9 percent of their own shots. Bucknell eclipsed 20 points in three of the four quarters.
• Bucknell tied a program record during the 2005 meeting with the Gaels by posting 28 assists in a 90-66 win.
• Bucknell is 45-37 in all-time matchups with current members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

Last Time Out
 • Bucknell fell on the road at Temple in its third game of the season. The Bison pulled ahead early at 11-9, but the Owls would go on to lead the rest of the game and improve to 3-0 in the all-time series.
 • Temple built a couple of 10-point leads in the second quarter and took a 35-26 edge into the locker room.
 • The Bison hung around in the fourth by limiting Temple to just a single field goal in the period, and Bucknell pulled within seven points of tying midway through the fourth quarter.
• Temple went 6-for-6 at the foul line down the stretch to hold on for the victory.
• Bucknell finished at 29.3 percent for the game, including 6-for-18 from the 3-point arc. Temple shot 42.0 percent and missed its final six 3-point attempts after the 7-for-13 start. The Owls outrebounded the Bison 41-30.
