Women's Swim & Dive Places Second at Bucknell Invitational

Abby Doss breaks school record in 200 breaststroke
LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's swimming & diving team placed second at the Bucknell Invitational, which wrapped up on Sunday night at Kinney Natatorium.
The Bison's top performance on Sunday was a school-record showing in the 200 breaststroke by Shamokin native Abby Doss. Doss shaved over a second off of the previous standard, which was set at the 2019 Bucknell Invitational, by touching the wall in 2:13.44. She became the first Bison to clear 2:14 in the event and only the second to clear 2:15, joining three-time All-Patriot League First Team selection Maggie Wyngowski.
Maddie Hartigan continued her winning ways, finishing first in the 100 freestyle. It was her third individual victory of the three-day meet, as she previously outraced the field in Friday's 500 freestyle and Saturday's 200 freestyle; her 200 freestyle time of 1:48.10 took .12 of a second off of her previous school record, set at the 2020 Patriot League Championships.
Bucknell ultimately totaled 1,306.5 points, placing them behind only Towson (1,448.5). Connecticut (1,266.5) rounded out the top three teams.
On Sunday, the Bison qualified eight individuals for the 'A' finals. In addition to winning the 100 freestyle, Hartigan placed third in the 1,650 freestyle. Skye Sunderhauf went fourth in the 200 butterfly, clocking Bucknell's sixth-fastest time (2:02.94).
Two Bison 400 freestyle relay teams finished in the top eight, with the quartet of Alexis Faria, Kayla Lichtner, Sophia Donati and Hartigan logging the program's sixth-fastest time (3:25.48) en route to a third-place effort. In addition, Faria went sixth the 200 butterfly while Donati placed seventh in the 100 freestyle.
The Bison resume dual meet action in the New Year, facing off against Johns Hopkins on Saturday, Jan. 8 at 1 p.m.
