Hartigan Breaks School Record on Bucknell Invitational's Second Day

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Maddie Hartigan broke her own school record in the 200 freestyle during the Bucknell Invitational's second day, which concluded on Saturday night at Kinney Natatorium.
Hartigan shaved .12 of a second off of the standard she set at the 2020 Patriot League Championships, timing in at 1:48.10 to claim first in the event.
Hartigan also teamed with Sabrina Vumbacco, Caroline McGann and Kayla Lichtner for a first-place showing in the 800 freestyle relay; the quartet clocked a time of 7:25.76 good for sixth in the Bison annals.
In the team standings, the Bucknell women's swimming & diving team remained in second place with 891.5 points behind Towson (1,014.5). On Saturday, the Bison qualified nine individuals for the 'A' finals while logging an impressive eight program top-10 times across the 'A' and 'B' finals.
Abby Doss (100 breaststroke), Gina Hinthorn (1-meter dive) and McGann (200 freestyle) all took fourth, with Doss clocking Bucknell's third-fastest time (1:03.17). Doss also won the 'B' finals of the 400 IM behind the Bison's fifth-fastest time (4:21.58).
The 200 medley relay team of Esme Hunter, Alexandra Ritorto, Alexis Faria and Hartigan finished fourth, also claiming fifth in the Bucknell annals with a time of 1:42.93.
The Bucknell Invitational wraps up tomorrow, with preliminaries beginning at 10 a.m.
