
Frias Earns Diver of the Meet Honors, Bison Women Sweep Podium in 200 Free on Night Two of ECAC Championships

RESULTS
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Bucknell women's swimming and diving team earned a big medal haul on the second night of the ECAC Open Championships, and the Bison are a close second behind host Navy with one more day to go. Senior diver Reggie Frias backed up her gold medal in the 3-meter diving competition with bronze on the 1-meter board, and she was named the ECAC Diver of the Meet. The Bison also swept all three podium spots in the 200-yard freestyle, and they are only 24 points behind the Mids in the team standings.
Frias scored 225.60 in the 1-meter dive, trailing only Navy's Lily Barrett and Isabelle Olson. Bucknell's Gina Hinthorn finished fourth and Meghan Catherwood took sixth.
The Bison piled up the points in the 200 free, as Clara Renner, Rylie Giles, and Kyla Kelly went gold-silver-bronze with Ashley Piacentino not far behind in fifth place. Renner, the Patriot League Rookie of the Meet, finished in 1:48.71.
Claiming bronze medals were freshman Sydney Jee in the 400 individual medley, and the 800 free relay team of Virginia Hastings, Kelly Byrne, Brooke Worth, and Giles.
Sara Ketron posted the seventh-fastest time in school history (55.55) in a sixth-place finish in the 100 butterfly. She slots in between teammates Renner and Sam Benzija on Bucknell's all-time list.
Hanna Bingley made the A Final in 100 breaststroke and finished seventh, and Byrne (10th), Skye Sunderhauf (13th), and Benzija (16th) also scored in that event.
In the 100 backstroke, Kelly placed 10th and Sydney Dettmann 16th.
The Bison started the night with a seventh-place finish in the 200 medley relay, comprised of Kelly, Ava Stallmeyer, Benzija, and Ketron.
A total of 22 women's teams have scored points thus far. Navy is first with 465 with Bucknell close behind with 441. Penn (362), Loyola (249), and Rutgers (226) round out the top five.
The ECAC Championships wrap up on Sunday with prelims starting at 9 a.m. and finals at 4 p.m.
