Donaldson Earns Spot on Academic All-Patriot League Team

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell junior Rylee Donaldson, who was announced as the Patriot League Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Year last week, added another honor to her portfolio on Tuesday when she was one of 11 players selected to the Academic All-Patriot League Team.
Donaldson is a Dean's List student majoring in political science with a minor in public policy. Last summer she had the opportunity to intern for Pennsylvania state representative Ryan Mackenzie, where she attended caucus sessions in Harrisburg and provided research, data and opinions on various bills and policies. As a member of Alpha Chi Omega, Donaldson has engaged in domestic violence philanthropic work, including fundraising for the Transitions Women's Shelter.
On the field, Donaldson's breakout season the Patriot League's leading goal-scorer is a big reason why Bucknell is one of the last four teams standing in the conference tournament. She has a league-best 10 goals on the season, including the overtime gamewinner at Lehigh last week that locked up a first-round home game for the Bison. Donaldson was kept off the scoresheet in Bucknell's 2-0 quarterfinal win over Lehigh on Sunday, but she drew the penalty that led to Claire Mensi's insurance goal late in the match.
Donaldson's selection marks the seventh time Bucknell has claimed the league's Offensive Player of the Year. Donaldson joined Lisa Gibbons (1993), Jennifer Dervarics (2007, 2008), Christa Matlack (2009, 2010) and Kendall Ham (2016) on that select list.
Bucknell is next in action on Thursday at Navy at 6 p.m. in the Patriot League Tournament semifinals. Boston University hosts Army in the other semifinal, and the winners will meet for the title on Sunday at the home of the highest remaining seed.
