Bucknell Women's Cross Country Returns to Bethlehem for Mid-Atlantic Regional

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell University women's cross country team is set to compete at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships on Friday, November 12 beginning at noon.

- Bucknell returns to action at the Mid-Atlantic Regionals for the first time since November 15, 2019 after the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships were canceled last year.
- Bucknell finished 11th of 31 teams in 2019, which is where the Bison ranked entering the weekend that year.
- The Bison took the top spot amongst competing Patriot League schools in 2019, one place ahead of Navy in 12th and three spots ahead of Lehigh in 14th.
- Ashlyn Ramos, Olvia Dyer, Emily Deschler, and Nora Bennett have all competed at the Mid-Atlantic Regionals in the past.
- Ramos finished 54th overall in 2019 for Bucknell's top finish behind Ashley Blair, while Dyer placed 61st. Deschler placed 71st, while Bennett was 128th that day.
- West Virginia, Georgetown, Villanova, Princeton, and Penn State round out the top five in the Mid-Atlantic Regional rankings, with Bucknell entering the meet ranked 11th after moving up four spots. Navy is the top-ranked Patriot League school in the Mid-Atlantic Regional rankings, entering the meet at eighth.
- Ramos, the Patriot League runner-up, will look to head to her second straight NCAA Championships this season. Ramos qualified last year by winning the Patriot League individual title in the pandemic-shortened season, which now reverts to its original format for the 2021 fall of qualifying during regional competition.
- 31 teams compete in the team portion of the NCAA Championships, with 18 bids (Top two in each region) along with 13 at-large bids.
- The top four individual finishers from each region earn automatic bids to the NCAA Championships, with an additional 38 individuals earning qualification that are not already members of the qualifying teams.
- Lauren Trapani, Karly Forker, Allyson Clarke, Abby Paczewski, Laura Sakol, Mia Bellucci, Sarah Policano, Jamie Falla, and Keeley Misutka all competed at the Patriot League Championships, and will figure to be involved at Friday's meet.
- Christine Bendzinski qualified for the NCAA meet in 2018 after finishing fourth in Bethlehem, becoming Bucknell's second runner to qualify in the past ten seasons along with Kate Scott. Bucknell finished 8th in 2018, securing a top-ten finish for the fourth straight season.
