Men's Tennis to Send Four Players to Richmond for River City Open

Setting the Scene
What: 2021 River City Open
Teams: Bucknell, College of Charleston, George Mason, Georgetown, James Madison, Longwood, Navy, Radford, Richmond, VCU, Villanova, William & Mary
Dates: Friday, Oct. 7 to Sunday, Oct. 9 (8 a.m. start each day)
Where: Robins Campus Courts & Collegiate School, Richmond, Va.
Format: Singles & Doubles Draws

Bucknell at a Glance
• The Bison are back in action for the first time in three weeks with four players headed to the River City Open, hosted by Richmond.
• Ryan Jurist, Tim Zelikovsky, Michael Owen and Carlos Carvalho will be in action this weekend.
• Owen and Zelikovsky are both 4-2 in singles this fall, and they have teamed together for a 3-0 mark in doubles. Owen also has a win with Jurst, giving Owen a perfect 4-0 doubles record on the season.
• In three previous fall tournaments, Bucknell has combined for a 23-15 singles record and a 6-11 doubles ledger.
• Nick Mueller, who is off this weekend, leads the team with an 8-1 singles record. He won his first eight before falling to Jan Semerak of Merrimack in the A Flight final at The Star Group Binghamton Challenge/
• Owen carries a four-match singles winning streak into the weekend.
• This will be just the second career tournament for the freshman Carvalho, who debuted at Binghamton three weeks ago.

The River City Open
• Several top teams from the Mid-Atlantic area will get together this weekend in Richmond. Matches will be held on the Richmond campus as well as at the nearby Collegiate School.
• Singles matches will be best two-of-three sets with a 10-point tiebreaker if the first two sets are split. Doubles will be a regular set with a tiebreaker at 6-6.
