Bucknell Men's Water Polo Concludes Weekend with Win over Johns Hopkins on Sunday

BALTIMORE --Â The Bucknell University men's water polo team wrapped up a 2-1 weekend with an 18-9 win over Johns Hopkins on Sunday afternoon.Â
Bucknell, which gained two important wins in the MAWPC standings over the weekend, started quickly, taking a commanding 7-0 lead with 4:41 left in the second quarter of play. The goals were scored by five different Bison during the stretch, as Jack Lewis, Josh Yardley, Ethan Jones, Hasan Mogultay, and Doruk Ozar each added a goal during the run.Â
The Blue Jays got on the board at the 4:41 mark of the second, but Ozar found the back of the cage just 43 seconds later to restore the seven-goal cushion. Andu Vlasceanu added two goals to close the period as Bucknell took a comfortable 10-2 lead at the break.Â
Vlasceanu added two more goals on the other side of the halftime horn as Bucknell kept its foot on the gas to stretch the lead to lead 13-4 in the third. Shay Gillearn and Walker Butler also added goals in the third quarter as Bucknell went on to cruise to an 18-9 win in its final game of the weekend.Â
Lewis and Vlasceanu each added four goals in the win, while J. Yardley filled the stat sheet with three goals and three assists. Ozar, who had a big game in the win over George Washington on Saturday, added three more goals on Sunday in the win. Butler added three assists as six Bison registered three or more points.  Â
Adrien Touzot managed a season-best in saves for the second straight day, stopping 14 shots while adding two steals.Â
Bucknell will now look ahead to a break from MAWPC play when it travels to Santa Clara, Calif. on Saturday, October 23-24 for four games as part of the Julian Fraser Memorial.Â
