- Bucknell continues to navigate its toughest stretch of the season as it hosts a strong Lehigh team on Saturday and No. 24 Kent State at Graham Field on Sunday. The Mountain Hawks are in the midst of their best season since 1994, and Kent State marks the fifth ranked opponent the Bison have faced this fall.
- Outside of the action on the field, Bucknell is hosting two important events at Graham Field this weekend. Saturday is the field hockey team's annual Play4TheCure game, which helps raise money for the funding of cancer research. It's Senior Day at Graham Field on Sunday, and the Bison will be celebrating the careers of seven student-athletes set to graduate in the spring.
- Bucknell has faced some of its toughest opponents of the season in recent weeks and is coming off losses to fourth-ranked Penn State and Cornell this past weekend. Before that, the Bison dropped contests at No. 24 Harvard and No. 25 American. Bucknell held leads in two of its last four losses and hasn't been shut out since the season opener vs. No. 24 James Madison. The Bison have five games remaining in the regular season, including three pivotal Patriot League games. Bucknell is currently fourth in the Patriot League standings.
- The Bison rank second in the Patriot League in points (7.83 pg) and are first in assists (2.58 pg).
- Bucknell's Lily Neilson is still tied for first in the Patriot League in goals (9), despite going without a score in the last three games. She's third in the league with her 1.58 points per game.
- The Bison have two of the top three assist-leaders in the Patriot League in Erin Zielinski and Mackenzie Kile. Zielinski has seven on the year, and Kile, who added one in the Penn State game on Saturday, has five. Maddie Rehak is seventh in the league with five assists.
- Junior Noor Kaur became the 10th different goal-scorer on the roster when she tallied the first of her career in the Cornell game. Six different Bison have multiple goals on the year, and 12 different players have contributed assists.
- Goalkeeper Clara McCormick made a career-high 13 saves against 25 shots faced at Penn State on Saturday. The sophomore is fourth in the Patriot League with her 2.21 goals against average.
- Bucknell is 6-0 in games that go past regulation since the start of last season, including two overtime wins this fall.
- For the first time in program history, Bucknell entered the 2021 field hockey season as reigning champions after collecting a Patriot League title in the spring and posting a first-round win over VCU in the NCAA tournament. Bucknell finished the 2020-21 season with a 6-4 overall record. After dropping their first three games of the spring season by a combined score of 10-1, the Bison turned things around and won six in a row to reach the NCAA quarterfinals. Bucknell limited opponents to one goal per game during the winning streak, and four of the victories went past regulation.
- Head coach Jeremy Cook is in his 14th season with the program. With a 126-122 career record, Cook is two victories shy of matching the program's all-time wins record. Cook has guided the Bison to the Patriot League Tournament every season and has posted a .500 overall record or better in each of the last five.
- Seniors Madison Hatcher, Payton Kenney, Emily Doyle, Mary Kate Stefanowicz, Grace McEvoy, Erin Zielinski and Peyton Fischer will all be honored as part of Sunday's Senior Day celebration. The class has accounted for 31 wins, three Patriot League Tournament appearances and one league title since arriving on campus in 2018.
Scouting Lehigh
- At 9-4 (3-1 PL), Lehigh has already secured its winningest season since 1994. The Mountain Hawks are tied for second in Patriot League standings with three league wins and have won five of their last six games.
- Lehigh ranks top three in the league in shots, goals, assists and goals against. The Mountain Hawks' 2.92 goals per game leads all Patriot League teams.
- Graduate student Lenke Havas, who is a four-time All-Patriot League selection, is tied for first in the league with nine goals scored this season. Teammate Sarah Bonthuis is right behind her with eight and ranks second in total points with six assists. Havas is also second in the league with 4.08 shots per game.
- 2020-21 PL Goalkeeper of the Year Maddie Kahn ranks second in saves and third in goals against average (1.54). The junior posted shutouts against Holy Cross and Sacred Heart this season.
- Lehigh head coach Caitlin Dallmeyer is in her sixth season with the program and has a 32-57 (12-17 PL) record during that time.
Series History with Lehigh
- The all-time series between Bucknell and Lehigh is even at 23-23-1, dating back to 1976.
- Bucknell has won 11 of 13 matchups over the last 13 years and had won eight in a row prior to last season's 4-0 loss in Bethlehem, Pa.
- Shots were even in the most recent meeting during the spring season and the Bison held an 8-6 edge in penalty corners, but the Mountain Hawks made saves on all nine Bucknell shots that were on target. Lehigh's Lenke Havas notched two of the team's four goals in the game.
- The Bison won 8-2 in the 2019 matchup, scoring five goals in the second quarter alone. Then-freshman Maddie Rehak scored one of the Bison goals, and Mackenzie Kile posted two of the team's eight assists.
Scouting Kent State
- Kent State came in a No. 24 in the latest NFHCA Coaches Poll and is 8-4 (3-1 MAC) this season. The Golden Flashes are riding a three-game winning streak and will take on the Miami RedHawks before visiting the Bison on Saturday. Four of Kent State's wins have come in overtime, and three of its wins were over top 25 teams.
- The Golden Flashes rank second in the Mid-Atlantic Conference in goals (2.33 pg) and second in assists (2.08 pg). Kent State also has the two top assist leaders in the conference as well as two of the top six goals leaders.
- Fifth-year senior Clara Rodriguez Seto and junior Maria Cambra Soler each have five goals this season, and seven different members of the roster have multiple goals.
- Goalkeeper Azure Fernsler has started 11 of 12 contests this season and is second in the MAC with her 1.87 goals against average. The fifth-year senior was a Second Team All-MAC selection last season.
- Kent State head coach Kyle DeSanders-Moyer is in her third season with the Golden Flashes, compiling a 30-16 overall record during that time.

- Bucknell is 1-2-1 in the all-time series with Kent State, dating back to 1987.
- The two teams last faced in 2007, with Bucknell claiming a 3-2 overtime victory. The three other meetings occurred between 1987 and 1989.
