Alexandra Butz Named to Patriot League Academic All-League Team

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Alexandra Butz has been named to the 2020 Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Academic All-League Team, the league office announced on Friday afternoon.
The selection for Butz marks nine straight years that the Bison have had at least one selection to the Indoor Academic All-Patriot League Team.
The junior from Parkton, Md. Enjoyed a breakout Patriot League Championships in which she finished second overall in the high jump (5-5) and sixth in the pole vault (11-11.75). In the latter, Butz set a new personal-best that ranks in a tie for fifth in the Bucknell record books.
In the high jump, Butz has now finished as runner-up at the Patriot League Indoor Championships for three straight years, including a personal-best (5-7) at the 2019 edition that ranks as the third-best mark in Bucknell history.
The sixth-place finish for Butz in the pole vault marks an exponential improvement from her 12th-place finish in 2019. In placing sixth, Butz improved by six places and over a foot and a half from her mark set at last year's Championships in Annapolis.
A Global Management major, Butz earned Academic All-League recognition for the first time in her career.
Andrea Claeson of Boston University was named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year, while Army led the way with three selections. Boston University and Navy each had two athletes earn accolades, while Bucknell, Lehigh, and Loyola each had one.
