"Obviously, 5th place as a team is not what our goals and expectations were," said Head Coach Kevin Donner. We have fought a lot of adversity with injury and sickness, and a few key people just struggled this weekend. I am a big believer in momentum, and day two started rough for us and we never got the momentum going. With that said, Sipe was incredible, with a school record in the shot put, and Salisbury defended her 60 title. She has proven to be the best short sprinter in the league. Alex Butz was runner-up in the high jump, and our two relays were very solid. Now we just have to prepare mentally and physical for the outdoor season and figure out our ECAC team this week once the smoke clears."Â
Salisbury was just shy of her 7.50 that won her the gold medal at last year's Indoor Championships that still stands as both a school and facility record. The senior just beat out 2018 champion Calli McMullen (7.53), in winning the event for the third time in her four years at Bucknell. The 7.52 ranks as the fourth-fastest time at the Patriot League Championships since the event was added in 2004. Salisbury also added a point in the 200 (8th, 25.66), as well as placing sixth in the triple jump (37-8).  Salisbury also scored in the long jump on Saturday (18-2.25) in earning points for the Bison in four events for the second consecutive year, and for the third time in her four seasons.Â
Gianna Macones (9th, 37-3), and Samantha Lopes (10th, 36-11.5) both narrowly missed joining Salisbury in scoring in the triple jump.Â
Delia Sipe (48-6) broke the school record in the shot put, breaking the previous record (47-10.75) set by Chelsey Musante in 2010. Sipe finished second overall to Emily Mikoud of Army (49-8.25). The junior improves by over three feet from her previous personal-best, and ranks in the top four at Bucknell both indoors and outdoors in the event.Â
Alexandra Butz continued her impressive weekend after placing sixth in the pole vault on Saturday. The junior cleared 5-5 in the high jump to place second in the event behind Jordan Otto of Lehigh (5-7).Â
Ashlyn Ramos, who earned First Team All-Patriot League honors in cross country, finished fourth overall in the 3000 (9:59.78). Hope Beyer (13th, 10:16.33) was next for the Bison after winning the first heat.Â
The distance medley relay squad of Karly Forker, Michaela Bracken, Gianna Mincone, and Lyons took third (12:06.42) behind Army and Lehigh. Bucknell also picked up points in the 4x400, as the unit of Becca Rooney, Jessie Castellano, Valerie Fischer, and Bridget Lalonde placed fourth (3:55.83).Â
Fischer (6th, 58.45) picked up points for the Bison in the 400 in her Championship debut while Tara Lyons, who posted a top-ten Bucknell time in the prelims, scored in the 800 (8th, 2:17.61)
Bucknell will return to action next weekend at the IC4A/ECAC Championships.Â
