LEWISBURG, Pa.—The No. 23 Bucknell University women's water polo team took a 14-10 victory over Salem on Friday evening to improve to 5-0 on the season and extend its winning streak to six games dating back to last season.
Bucknell scored the first four goals of the game, and never looked back. Junior Ally Furano continued her strong form after garnering CWPA Division I Player of the Week and Bison Athlete of the Week honors with an impressive showing at the Bruno Classic.
The Stamford, Connecticut native scored the first three goals of the game as Bucknell overwhelmed the Tigers early on. Kali Hyham then scored Bucknell's fourth moments after Nina Benson forced a turnover to give the Bison a 4-0 lead just a few minutes into the game.
After a goal by the Tigers stopped the Bison run, Benson scored a goal of her own on a pass from Paige Furano to restore the four-goal advantage.
Salem looked to get back into the game after a goal from Erin Zappia trimmed the Bucknell lead to 6-3 in the second. However, A. Furano scored once more on an assist from Benson before assisting her sister Paige on a nice pass from the top of the area to extend Bucknell's lead to 8-3 midway through the second. Salem added one more goal just before the halftime horn as Bucknell went into the intermission up by four, 8-4.

Furano opened the scoring in the third shortly after Megan LaCroix won the opening sprint of the half, before three more goals by P. Furano, A. Furano, and Hyham extended Bucknell's lead to eight.
