About the Bison
- Bucknell enjoyed an excellent opening weekend at the Bruno Classic on Saturday and Sunday, compiling a 4-0 record while outscoring its opponents 52-35. Bucknell's 4-0 start is the first for the program since the 2011 season.
- Leading the way for the Bison was junior Ally Furano, who broke a school-record for goals (8) in a single game against No. 24 Marist. The record was most recently tied by her younger sister Paige Furano last season against Harvard.
- A. Furano was named the Bison Athlete of the Week for her efforts, and wrapped up the four-game span with 21 goals, one assist, and six ejections drawn. Additionally, Furano moved into the Bucknell top ten in goals scored, and now has 191 career tallies to her name.
- Kali Hyham also posted a big game against the Red Foxes, scoring five goals as she took on her sister Marina, who was the starting goalkeeper for Marist. The five goals were a career-high for the junior from Garden Grove, Calif.
- Bucknell used a balanced scoring attack against Austin College in the second game of the Tournament, with six different Bison finding the back of the cage. Freshman Sheila Tomlin scored twice, her first career goals, while Marcela Herrera and Katie Jo Nedrow each added two goals.
- Fellow freshmen Anna Bautista, Bella Moynihan, and Megan Lacroix each tallied their first career goals for the Bison in Bucknell's 16-10 win over Siena.
- Paige Furano dished out a season-best four assists in the win over Siena, as eight different Bison contributed to Bucknell's 16-goal haul. Additionally, nine Bison contributed two or more goals at the Bruno Classic.
- Bucknell scored 16 goals or more twice at the Bruno Classic against Marist and Siena, after accomplishing the feat six times last season. The 2019 team finished as the highest scoring team in program history with 398 goals.
- Head Coach John McBride moved four wins closer to tying John Zeigler for the most wins in program history. With four wins over the weekend, McBride now stands at 127 career victories for the women's program, 12 shy of Zeigler's 139.
- Bucknell finished 4-3 in home games last season, including a 3-1 showing at last year's Bucknell Invitational. The Bison's lone loss at last year's Invite came to 18th-ranked Wagner. In Bucknell's three wins at the Invite last season, the Bison outscored Salem, Siena, and La Salle by a combined margin of 41-9.
- Bucknell is 10-6 against the Tigers all time. After starting 0-6 against Salem, the Bison have now won ten straight in the series.
- Bucknell has outscored the Tigers 80-16 in the past four matchups, resuming play against the Tigers in 2019 after a 14-year hiatus in the all-time series.
- A. Furano scored six goals, dished out three assists, and added four steals to pace the Bison to a 14-4 victory last season at Kinney Natatorium. Nina Benson, Larissa Hodzic, and Kali Hyham each added goals.
- The Bison are 6-1 all-time against the Terriers, and have won six straight in the series.
- The two teams last met in 2017 in Lewisburg, a 13-5 win for the Bison Nina Benson is the only active Bison to appear in that game, where she posted two assists during her freshman year.
- Bucknell is 12-10 all-time against the Seahawks, with Wagner taking the last eight matchups between the two schools.
- Bucknell dropped two games last season to Wagner, a 12-3 defeat at Kinney Natatorium on Feb. 10 and a narrow 10-8 defeat to the 16th- ranked Seahawks at the Bruno Classic a week prior.
- Hyham drew three ejections in the defeat in Providence, while Gigi Rojahn and Hodzic drew two ejections apiece.
The Bison will travel to Erie, Pa. for four games from Saturday, Feb. 15-Sunday, Feb. 16 as a part of the Mercyhurst Invite.
