ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Bucknell men's swimming & diving team took fourth at the Patriot League Championships, which wrapped up on Saturday night at Navy's Lejeune Hall.

The Bison totaled 342.5 points over the course of the four-day event, finishing behind Navy (1,095.5), Army West Point (721) and Loyola (391). A highlight of the meet for Bucknell was a bronze-medal performance by the 400 freestyle relay team of Matt McGoey, Matt Mills, Jack Rose and Leo Kuyl; the quartet clocked a school-record time of 2:59.19, becoming the first Bison squad to clear 3:00 in this event.

On Saturday, Mitch Gavars scored a fifth-place performance in the 1,650 freestyle while Garrett Sommer went eighth in the 3-meter dive, moving to fifth in school history behind his preliminary score of 271.95.

Kuyl and Mills both cracked Bucknell's top five in the 100 freestyle. Kuyl's time of 44.91 in the finals gave him third while Mills's time of 44.94 in the preliminaries slotted him fourth.

The Bison next attend the Navy Long Course Meet on Thursday, Feb. 27 and the ECAC Championships on Friday, Feb. 28 through Sunday, March 1.
