LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell University men's track and field team concluded the second day of its two-meet trip this weekend at the Penn State National Open and the Bison Open and Multi.
"Overall, it was a very solid weekend for both teams," said Head Coach Kevin Donner. "We have been back from the semester break for a month now, and we still have a month before the league championships. Lots of our athletes made some nice progress at both meets, and our next two meets will be at nice facilities against very good competition. The next two weekends will pretty much narrow down our 32-person league lineup."
At University Park, Jeff Brown returned to the track after posting the second-fastest time in the preliminary round in the 60 (6.81) on Friday. On Saturday, Brown (22.08) took part in the 200, taking eighth in the open section of the meet. Brown currently owns the sixth-fastest mark in Bucknell history (21.84) in that event.
Zach Ruiz and C.J. Falcioni both took part in the shot put after the latter also competed in the weight throw on Friday. Ruiz placed in the top ten (53-9.25), which is a new personal-best for the second straight week, and moves the senior up three spots to seventh on Bucknell's all-time list. Falcioni wasn't far behind in 11th (53-3.75), also posting a new personal-best and moving up to eighth on the Bucknell top ten list.
Alex Dessoye posted a strong third-place finish in the 400 (49.27). The junior holds Bucknell's sixth-fastest time in that event (48.47). Teammate Steve Rizio also posted a top-ten finish in placing sixth (49.70).
Robert Dessoye took ninth in the 800 (1:53.68), while Nick Pacelli placed fifth in the Invitational section of the 1000 (2:31.26). Freshman Dylan LoPresti also took part in the 1000, placing third in the open division (2:31.34).
In Lewisburg, Stefone Moore-Green posted Bucknell's top finish of the day in placing first in the 400 in an IC4A-qualifying time (49.22) that ranks just shy of the Bucknell top ten by .04. The senior has now qualified for IC4As in two different events after qualifying in the 200 at the Gulden Invite in his collegiate debut season on the track.
Terryl Ferrell also posted a win in the 100 (2:36.05), while Brendan McGill (4:21.70) was second in the mile. Noah Martin took a third-place finish in the 3000 (8:56.74).
The Bison will return to University Park next Saturday for the Sykes and Sabock Challenge.
