Bison Celebrate Seniors
• Before Saturday's meet against Boston College, the Bison will celebrate their senior class.
• Bucknell's 2019-20 seniors are Brooke Collins, Emma Hadley, Abby Merriman, Katherine O'Shea, Lauren Rajauski (diving/diving team manager) and Paige Schoelkopf.
• The seniors have scored a combined 165.5 points at the Patriot League Championships.
• Hadley is a two-time All-Patriot League honoree, making the 2017 First Team and 2018 Second Team. She won a silver medal in the 2018 200 backstroke and in the 2017 100 backstroke.
• Hadley, Merriman, O'Shea and Schoelkopf have all written their names in Bucknell's record book by logging program top-10 times/marks individually or as members of relay teams.
• Bucknell is currently 8-1 (6-1 Patriot League) after dispatching Johns Hopkins (174-120) and Army West Point (164-136) last week at Kinney Natatorium.Â
• With their win over the Black Knights, the Bison equaled their 2018-19 total of overall and Patriot League victories with two dual meets left on their 2019-20 calendar.
• Emma Hadley had an impressive weekend, sweeping the backstroke races against both Johns Hopkins and Army West Point. Catherine Craig won both breaststroke events against the Blue Jays while Maddie Hartigan (100 and 200 freestyles) and Abby Merriman (500 and 1,000 freestyles) each won two events against the Black Knights.
• In 2018-19, Bucknell finished dual competition with an impressive 8-1 (6-1 Patriot League) record. With the Bison's Senior Day triumph over rival Lehigh, they reached the eight-win threshold for the first time since the 2013-14 campaign, when they went 8-2 (6-0 Patriot League).
• Bucknell went on to place third (482 points) at the 10-team Patriot League Championships and third (322 points) at the 24-team ECAC Championships. The Bison's third-place showing at the Patriot League Championships was their best since 2015, when they were the runners-up; they were bolstered by eight medal-winning performances, including an individual title by Maddie Hartigan in the 1,650 freestyle.
• Hartigan (1st), Julie Byrne (1st), Maggie Wyngowski (1st) and Abigail Rosenberg (2nd) were Bucknell's 2019 All-Patriot League honorees.
• Of Bucknell's 2019 All-Patriot League selections, Byrne and Rosenberg were lost to graduation. The Bison also returned Hadley, a 2017 All-Patriot League First Team and 2018 All-Patriot League Second Team honoree.
• Two school-record holders are on the 2019-20 roster: Hartigan (500 freestyle, 4:46.62) and Wyngowski (200 breaststroke, 2:14.54; 400 IM, 4:17.80).
• Returnees Emily Gorham (200 freestyle), Hadley (200 medley, 400 medley), Hartigan (800 freestyle), Katherine O'Shea (200 freestyle) and Wyngowski (200 medley) were members of school record setting relay teams.
• The program welcomed 10 newcomers in 2019-20. They hail from six different states: Pennsylvania (4), Connecticut (2), Florida, Maryland, New Jersey and New York.
