Swim & Dive Has Strong Senior Day Showing Against Boston College

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's swimming & diving team moved to 9-1 on the season with its 163.5-136.5 victory over Boston College on Saturday at Kinney Natatorium.
Bolstered by 11 first-place finishes, and 1-2-3 efforts in two events, the Bison women cruised past the Eagles on Senior Day. Their nine overall wins is their highest total since the 1997-98 campaign, when they finished 11-2; with one dual left on their calendar, they will have an opportunity to reach the double digits in a single season for the sixth time in program history.
The Bucknell men, who dropped a 181-113 decision to the visiting Eagles to move to 5-5 on the season, saw Leo Kuyl win the 50 freestyle. In addition, Kuyl went second in the 100 freestyle and led off the runner-up 400 freestyle relay team. Matt McGoey added second-place showings in the 200 butterfly and 200 IM; he also anchored that runner-up 400 freestyle relay team.
Maddie Hartigan was a standout performer for the Bison, winning the 100, 200 and 500 freestyle races; in addition, she anchored the first-place 400 freestyle relay team. Hartigan's time of 51.20 in the 100 freestyle was good for seventh in school history.
Catherine Craig swept the breaststroke races while Emma Hadley won both backstroke events. The Bison's other individual winners were Alexis Faria (100 butterfly), Abby Merriman (1,000 freestyle) and Maggie Wyngowski (200 IM).
Bucknell went 1-2-3 in the 500 freestyle and 200 IM, with Merriman finishing second to Hartigan in the 500 freestyle and Craig touching the wall right after Wyngowski in the 200 IM.
Before the dual meet, the Bison recognized seniors Brooke Collins, Hadley, McGoey, Merriman, Katherine O'Shea, Michael Park, Lauren Rajauski (diving/diving team manager) and Paige Schoelkopf.
Bucknell wraps up dual meet action at rival Lehigh on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 1 p.m.
