"I thought our women had a very good meet." Said Head Coach Kevin Donner. "However, like the men, we are missing some key people due to injury and sickness, and some of our events got exposed a bit. It was a nice improvement from two weeks ago at Lehigh, and we will need to continue improving if we want to be a contender at the League meet."
Gianna Macones posted a solid mark (18-6) in winning the long jump after entering the Bucknell top ten in the event (19-0) at the Angry Birds Invite. Additionally, Macones took second in the 60 hurdles (9.04) which ranks eighth on Bucknell's all-time list.
Tara Lyons continued her momentum after capturing wins in her first two races in the 800 this season. On Saturday, Lyons took part in the 1000, taking first place by nearly nine seconds in an ECAC-qualifying time of 2:57.77 in her first time running the event. Lyons also ran the anchor leg on Bucknell's second-place 4x800 team along with Gianna Mincone, Madeleine Hunt, and Becca Rooney (9:31.38).
Mincone also captured a win in the 800 (2:19.97), while Valerie Fischer (400, 58.93) and Jessie Castellano (500, 1:17.92) each earned individual victories in personal-best times. Castellano just beat out teammate Becca Rooney (1:18.49) for the top spot in that event.
Emily Deschler took the top spot in the 3000 (10:29.34), placing ahead of Abby Bolt of Delaware by three seconds. In the 5000, Ashlyn Ramos, a First Team All-Patriot League selection in cross country, returned to the track for the first time this season (18:17.67) in taking first place.
Delia Sipe added Bucknell's final event win of the day in the shot put for wins in back-to-back meets (45-2.25). Alexandra Butz garnered two runner-up finishes in the high jump (5-5) and the pole vault (11-7.75), while Senior Kaitlin Salisbury placed second in a trio of events in the triple jump (37-4), the 60 (7.73), and the long jump (18-0.25).
