LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's swimming & diving team topped Johns Hopkins, 174-120, on Friday afternoon at Kinney Natatorium.
Bolstered by 11 individual event wins and three 1-2-3 performances, the Bison (7-1, 5-1 Patriot League) rang in the New Year with a commanding victory over the Blue Jays (5-4). This is the second-straight year they raced out to a 7-1 record through their first eight duals meets; with three remaining, they need just one win to match their 2018-19 record of 8-1.
Catherine Craig and Emma Hadley led the way against Johns Hopkins, each winning two events. Craig swept the breaststroke races while Hadley won both backstroke events.
Alexis Faria (100 butterfly), Maddie Hartigan (1,000 freestyle), Abby Merriman (200 freestyle), Sabrina Vumbacco (500 freestyle) and Maggie Wyngowski (200 IM) also won swimming events. Sophia Donati and Emily Gorham finished right behind Merriman in the 200 freestyle to account for one of Bucknell's 1-2-3 efforts.
The Bison also went 1-2-3 on both boards, with Alaina Schumann winning on the 1-meter and Jamilie Atiyeh on the 3-meter. Schumann went second to Atiyeh on the 3-meter.
Bucknell returns to action tomorrow at 6 p.m. by hosting Army West Point. The dual meet, which was originally scheduled for 12 p.m. at the Black Knights' Crandall Pool, was moved to the Bison's Kinney Natatorium on Friday morning.
