Women’s Golf Tallies Second-Best 36-Hole Score in Team History in Second-Place Finish at Hartford

FINAL RESULTS
BLOOMFIELD, Conn. – The Bucknell women's golf team continued its outstanding play in tournaments hosted by Hartford, finishing second this time around at the Hartford Hawks Invitational at Wintonbury Hills GC. The Bison, who won Hartford's spring tournament last April, finished with a 605 team score, which is the second-best 36-hole total in team history.
After posting a 302 in Saturday's opening round, the Bison shot 303 Sunday, paced by a 4-over-par 74 from Erin Holmes. The school 36-hole record is 602, set in a win at the Wendy's Invitational at Coosaw Creek CC in October 2010.
Fairleigh Dickinson totaled 585 (289-296) to take the team title, and then the Bison finished 10 strokes ahead of host Hartford for the runner-up spot. The Hawks shot 615, followed by Monmouth (616), Sacred Heart (623), Siena (630), Hofstra (632), Long Island (647), Fairfield (653), Merrimack (654) and Holy Cross (671).
Four Bison finished in the top 16 in a field of 68 players. Meredith Langs, who was the medalist at Hartford in the spring, finished T-4th this weekend with rounds of 73-76. Her 149 total was seven shots behind the winner, Caterina Tatti of FDU.
Sahana Paravantavida (74-76) placed T-8th, Casey Morrow (74-77) was T-10th, and Holmes (81-74) was T-16th. Paravantavida made a team-high three birdies on Sunday, while Holmes made 12 pars and a birdie en route to her 74, which was tied for the second-best mark of her career.
Also for Bucknell, Tatum McKelvey posted her second straight 82.
The Bison are back in action Oct. 14-15 at the Towson Invitational at Eagle's Nest CC.
