EARLYSVILLE, Va.—The Bucknell University men's cross country team, led by senior Drew Dorflinger, finished 13th at the Panorama Farms Invite on Friday morning.
"It was a tough day for our men," said Head Coach Kevin Donner. "Training has been going very well, but it seemed like we never got in a good comfort zone during the race, and the course kind of took its toll on us. Some of our key guys struggled in the second half of the race. We gotta get back to work and focus on the next meet at PSU in three weeks."
Dorflinger (42nd, 25:07.4) posted the top finish in the field of 164 for Bucknell in his first race since the Pitt Panther Opener to start the season.
Connor McMenamin (71st, 25:44.5) was next up for the Bison, followed by Brendan O'Toole (77th, 25:52.6).
Freshman Samuel Whittaker (80th, 25:56.7) and junior Evan Minor (88th, 26:04.2) rounded out the scorers for Bucknell.
Greg Eisenhower, Jake Stupak, Domenic Campagna, Owen Chase, Brendan McGill, and Brian Dengler also competed for the Bison.
Bucknell (13th, 301 points), finished just 15 points behind ninth-place Florida. Host and No. 22 ranked Virginia won the meet (35), taking five of the top ten spots and seven of the top 14. The Cavaliers were followed by Michigan State (82), Charlotte (109), Butler (138), and Yale (143). The Spartans' Morgan Beadlescomb took first place at the meet (23:58.7) followed by JP Trojan of William & Mary (24:08.1).
Bucknell will now look ahead to the Paul Short Invite on Oct. 5.
