BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Bucknell University men's cross country team took 20th overall in the men's college 8k Brown race at the 46th annual Paul Short Run on Saturday.
"We held out our top nine from the UVA meet last week, and I feel our depth is starting to develop as we chose to run the Brown race," said Head Coach Kevin Donner. "It was good to see Dengler run well as his fitness is starting to come together just at the right time. Freshman Domenic Campagna also looked very solid, while Riley Gardner continues to be consistent."
Senior Dengler took the top time for Bucknell, placing 55th in the field of 323 in the Brown race (25:25.3). Freshman Campagna was next, taking 81st overall (25:34.1). Riley Gardner (101st, 25:43.3), Terryl Ferrell (158th, 26:05.1), and Ryan Miele (175th, 26:11.7) rounded out the scorers for Bucknell.
Noah Martin, Matthew Vira, and Quenton Long also took part in the race.
The Bison improved from a 26th-place showing last season, moving up six spots to 20th in the 44-team field.
New Hampshire won the Brown Race team title with a score of 114, followed by Southern Connecticut State (233), Binghamton (234), Marist (247), and Dickinson (273). Nicolas Sevilla-Connelly of New Hampshire won the individual title (24:26.9).
The Bison will have two weeks off before sending a group of athletes to the Penn State National Invite on Friday, October 18. Another group will travel to the Lafayette Invite on Saturday, October 19.
