LEWISBURG, Pa. – The No. 13 ranked Bucknell University men's water polo team started Sunday on a positive note, earning its first MAWPC win of the season in a 17-5 win over Wagner. The team then closed the Bucknell Invite with a 16-10 win over La Salle to wrap up a 3-1 weekend.
Bucknell improves to 9-2 this season, while Wagner drops to 1-9 after the defeat.
Game One: Bucknell 17, Wagner 5
The game was close early on, with Wagner pulling within one, 3-2, after Logan Schofield, Andu Vlasceanu, and Rade Joksimovic each found the back of the cage to open the match.
Bucknell, however, scored 14 of the next 15, including six straight after Wagner's second, as it raced out to a 17-3 lead before Wagner finally responded with their fourth goal at the 3:40 mark of the third period.
Bucknell looked in control for a good portion of the game, capped off by a long distance shot from Joksimovic that just beat the third period horn. The scoring run, along with a strong defensive performance for the second straight game, helped Bucknell cruise to a 17-5 win and its first win in MAWPC play this season.
Six Bison players scored in the game, including Scott Little, who recorded his first goal of the season. Joksimovic added seven goals and three assists in the win for a season-high ten points. Vlaseanu continued his strong run of form, adding four goals. Jack Lewis and Logan Schofield each added multiple goals. Adrien Touzot, in his second career start, made 20 saves for Bucknell. The 20 saves is a career-high, and four shy of the all-time saves record of 24 in a single game set back in 1995 by Zach Blixt against Slippery Rock.

Bucknell added four more goals in the second period from four different scorers in Cullen Jacuzzi, Jack Lewis, Schofield, and Stanley. However, La Salle kept things relatively close in the period as it went into the halftime break trailing 8-5.
