Bison Advance in Each Flight on Day One of the Bucknell Fall Invite

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell women's tennis had winners in each flight of both doubles and singles on the first day of the Bison Invitational, and will send seven to compete in semifinal matches tomorrow.
Sophomore Daniela Bellini and freshman Dax Seidlin both won three-set matchups in the A singles bracket. After splitting the first two sets, Bellini defeated Villanova's Kaylan Rotman in the super tiebreaker 10-3. Bellini will face Claudia Althans of Villanova tomorrow.
Seidlin's 5-7, 6-2, 10-6 win came against Marist's Julia Gabay. The freshman now plays for an opportunity to see her third singles championship match in as many weeks. Seidlin will face Villanova's Lexi Denucci tomorrow.
Sofia Ayuso and Paige Leavy were winners in B singles, defeating their Marist opponents in two sets. Ayuso won 6-3, 6-3 against Madison Price, while Leavy posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Vanessa Ciano.
Rachel Carroll will represent the Bison in the C singles semis tomorrow following a 6-2, 6-0 defeat of Hannah Davis of Mount St. Mary's. Meanwhile, freshman Chloe Zilkha advanced in D singles with a 6-3, 6-0 defeat of Mount St. Mary's Mia Pittman.
Three of Bucknell's doubles tandems came away with wins on day one, including two in the A bracket. Cayla Koch and Seidlin won 6-0 over the duo from Marist, while Bellini and Leavy posted the same score against the team from Mount St. Mary's.
Lastly, Zilkha and Carroll won 6-0 in B singles against Mount St. Mary's Katie Schisler and Karen Anderson.
The Bison will play the semifinal rounds tomorrow, beginning at 9 a.m. Each match will be played at the Varsity Tennis Courts, located behind Gerhard Field House.
