About the Bison
- Bucknell is off to a 4-0 start for the second consecutive season, after wins over two ranked opponents to start the season in No. 20 Brown, and No. 16 Cal Baptist, as well as a win over St. Francis Brooklyn which was receiving votes in the preseason poll and has moved up to the No. 17 spot this week.
- Rade Joksimovic began his senior season strong, earning MAWPC Player of the Week honors as well as Bison Athlete of the Week in scoring 28 points on 22 goals and six assists in helping Bucknell to an unblemished start.
- Joining Joksimovic in earning weekly accolades was freshman Andu Vlasceanu, who took home MAWPC Rookie of the Week honors after scoring 13 goals and adding six assists in his collegiate debut. In his first game in the Orange and Blue, Vlasceanu led the team with five goals and an assist in a 15-9 win over MIT to open the Bruno Classic.
- Bucknell scored 65 goals in its first four games, the most by the team under Head Coach John McBride, and the most through its first four games since the 2010 season in which the team started 3-1 and scored 70 goals.
- Joksimovic, after posting 10 steals in the first four contests, now needs just two more to break the all-time steals record of 253 held by Jay Danforth.
- Joksimovic passed the 400 goals mark in his career at Bucknell over the weekend, becoming just the second Bucknell player to accomplish the feat.
- Logan Schofield, now up to 20 ejections drawn already this season, moved into the top three all-time at Bucknell, and is now 25 behind Jeff Hagen for second on the list.
- Joining Vlasceanu in recording their first career goal for the Orange and Blue was freshman Colby Paine, who scored a crucial late goal to help Bucknell hold off St. Francis Brooklyn.
- The 20 goals against Cal Baptist were the most by the team since a 21-6 win over La Salle in the first round of the MAWPC Tournament.
- Bucknell managed to score over 20 goals on five occasions last season.
- Seven players for Bucknell recorded a point over the weekend, including Cullen Jacuzzi and Matt Blackwell, who each earned starts through the first four games. Blackwell had started just two games prior to this season, and recorded two goals on four shots. Jacuzzi also posted a strong weekend, finding the back of the cage seven times.
- Jared Stanley and Logan Schofield each recorded 10 goals over the weekend, joining Joksimovic and Vlasceanu as players who posted double-digit totals in goals at the Bruno Classic.
- The three games against ranked opposition this weekend will make it six straight matches for the Bison against foes either ranked or receiving votes.
- The Tritons are 2-2 this season, with wins over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and No. 10 UC Davis, and defeats to #13 UC Irvine and #7 Pepperdine.
- Bucknell has never defeated the Tritons, going 0-3 in three matchups.
- Bucknell last played the Tritons in 2005, a 15-7 defeat. The Bison came closest in 1988, falling by one goal, 10-9.
- The Tigers are also 2-2, defeating La Salle and Austin College, and falling to powerhouses UCLA and Stanford, both tied for the #2 ranking in the country
- Princeton and Bucknell have a long history, playing a total of 87 times to date since 1979.
- A late Princeton rally helped the Tigers take a close game last season, 12-11. The two teams have played to a one-goal contest in two out of the last three matchups.
- Joksimovic scored six times in that game, while Schofield drew five ejections.
- Bucknell will face the Bears once again after defeating the Ivy League school 17-9 on Sept. 8.
- Bucknell is now 28-32-2 all-time against the Bears.
- The Bison have defeated Brown in six straight games.
- The Bison will return to their home pool on Sept. 21-22 for four games, including three MAWPC contests.
