Forrestal Earns Bison Athlete of the Week Honors

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell junior track and field athlete Lexy Forrestal has been named the Bison Athlete of the Week after winning the gold medal in the high jump at the 2019 Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday afternoon.

Forrestal beat out a talented field to take the gold (5-5), including defending champion Jordan Otto from Lehigh, as well as Bucknell school record holder Taylor O'Brien.   Forrestal is the first gold medal winner for the Bison in the high jump since Amy Mantush, who accomplished the feat in both the 2009 and the 2007 meets.

The Montgomery, Pa. native set a personal-best by a half inch in the win, and has improved in every meet she has competed in this season. She moves into a tie for sixth on Bucknell's all-time list, and becomes the third Bison to clear the mark this season, joining Alexandra Butz and O'Brien.

Forrestal and the rest of the Bison squad will compete in the Army Twilight on Thursday before ECAC competition on Saturday and Sunday.
