McMenamin earns All-East Honors in the Steeplechase
PRINCETON, N.J. – C.J. Falcioni posted a personal best in the hammer throw (186-2) that remains the seventh-best throw in Bucknell history as the Bison concluded the first day of the IC4A Championships on Saturday evening. Connor McMenamin, after securing a spot on the Patriot League All-Academic Team earlier this week, also posted a season-best in the steeplechase (9:03.56) as the Bison are 19th after the first day of the meet with six points. Navy (37), Monmouth (22), New Hampshire (20), Wagner (16), and Northeastern (16) comprise the top five.
It was a pretty good day one for the men," said Head Coach Kevin Donner. "CJ had a PR in the hammer and just missed the final. Jordan (Montero) made the final in javelin but did not score. Those two throwers are set up nicely for next year. I was pleased with our 4x100 relay that ran a season best time and won the slower section and still scored. McMemamin earned All-East with a nice 5th and PR in the steeple. He is very close to qualifying for the NCAA meet. We have some good scoring opportunities for tomorrow."
McMenamin placed fifth with his season-best time to earn All-East honors in his sophomore season for the Orange and Blue, while Falcioni earned a top-ten finish in the ten spot after his season-best heave in the hammer.
Picking up the remaining two points for the Bison was the 4x100 team of Ryquan Harris, Jeff Brown, Bobby Gablein, and Billy Melchionni in 41.41, a season-best time that now ranks eighth at Bucknell. The relay squad managed to steal points despite running in the first heat, narrowly edging Fairleigh Dickinson (41.42) for first in that heat as both teams went on to score.
Jordan Montero narrowly missed scoring the javelin (9th, 189-11) as he qualified for finals in the event after posting a personal-best 205-1 at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships.
Scott Gulizio placed 17th in the 800 (1:52.22), while Sean Conway (28th, 1:53.81) and Owen Concaugh (1:55.46) also competed in the event. Bucknell's Tom McLean continues to hold the meet record (1:45.34 in 1976).
Brendan McGill (31st, 3:58.21) and Owen Chase (34th, 4:00.39) took part in the 1500. Drew Dorflinger took 23rd in the 5000 (15:01.33), while Landin Delaney was 19th in the 10K (31:53.71).
