Lohwater, Tanabe shoot 73 in final round
FINAL RESULTS
MALVERN, Pa. -- Jason Lohwater and Chris Tanabe both posted 2-over-par 73 on Tuesday in the final round of the Wildcat Invitational at White Manor Country Club. Bucknell shot 296 as a team for a 36-hole total of 590 and finished the tournament in 17th place.
The five-man Bison contingent upped its birdie count from seven to 15 from the first round to the second, but team-wide struggles at holes 3, 13 and 17 prevented the squad from making a run up the leaderboard.
Lohwater was Bucknell's low man in the 36-hole tournament, posting a 145 total (72-73) to put him in a tie for 33rd place. Tanabe improved on his first-round total by four strokes with his 73 in round two. Peter Bradbeer and Carter Cook both shot 74, and J.P. Raftery finished up with a 75.
Drexel claimed both the team and individual titles. Connor Schmidt backed up his opening-round 63 with a 3-under 68 on Tuesday, and his 11-under 131 was good for a three-shot victory over Matt Pulgini of Delaware. Schmidt's torrid play helped Drexel run away with the team crown. The Dragons finished at 17-under 551, nine shots better than runner-up Akron. Cleveland State (-7), Delaware (-7) and Lafayette (-1) also finished under par for the tournament.
Bucknell is back in action on Saturday at the Yale Spring Invitational.
