Men's Tennis Drops Home Match to Navy
4/6/2019 7:15:00 PM | Men's Tennis
LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell men's tennis had three singles matches go three sets and two doubles contests go down to the wire, but couldn't quite get the wins it needed in a 7-0 loss to Navy in a Patriot League match Saturday at the Varsity Courts.
Navy improved to an impressive 24-13 overall and 3-0 in the Patriot League, while Bucknell dropped to 7-11 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
The Mids took the doubles point but not without a fight. Andrei Vitiuc and Alex Pedrazzini came up just short, 7-5, on court two, while Max McDonald and Marwan Abaza battled before falling 6-4 on court one.
McDonald also had a hard-fought match in singles while playing on court two. He won the first set but fell in the following two. Ethan Jacobs (court one) and Abaza (court three) both pushed their matches to third-set tiebreakers.
The Bison will look to even their Patriot League record when they travel to Baltimore to take on Loyola (Md.) on Sunday at 2 p.m. The Greyhounds are 5-8 overall and 2-2 in the conference after losing back-to-back matches to La Salle and Mount St. Mary's.
