Baseball Drops Two Games at Lafayette on Saturday

EASTON, Pa.—The Bucknell University baseball team dropped two games on Saturday at Lafayette in a Patriot League doubleheader.
Bucknell drops to 9-23 with the pair of losses (3-10 PL) while Lafayette improves to 10-18 overall (5-4 PL).
Game One:Lafayette 11, Bucknell 3
Five Bucknell errors helped Lafayette take advantage in a game-one. Nine runs by the Leopards were unearned.
Lafayette took a 4-0 lead in the first inning after three consecutive errors by the Bison to open the game defensively, capped off by a two-RBI single from the Leopards with two outs in the inning.
In the top of the third inning, Bucknell responded with three runs after back-to-back singles by Ben Smith and Caleb Broughton opened the frame .A throwing error on a sac bunt attempt by Tyler Wincig helped Smith score from second, before a sac fly from Dominic Toso plated Broughton. JohnPaul Bell wrapped up the inning with an RBI groundout to score Wincig for Bucknell's third run.
It was all Lafayette from that point however, as the Leopards plated five in the bottom of the third.The Bison were plagued by errors once again in the inning, with all five runs in the frame unearned for the Leopards.
Lafayette scored two insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth en route to an 11-3 win over Bucknell.
The Bison managed four hits on the day from Broughton, Wincig, Smith, and Jack Schuler.
Nate Grisius (2-4) allowed five hits through four innings in the loss with four strikeouts.
Game Two: Lafayette 6, Bucknell 5
Lafayette used a walk-off sac fly in the bottom of the ninth inning for a come-from-behind win over Bucknell in game two.
Things started well for Bucknell in the second inning of game two when Jared Drizin and Smith singled in back-to-back at-bats to start the inning, with Smith's single coming via bunt.. After a fielder's choice and Smith stealing third, Luke Hartman used a groundout to plate Smith before Tyler Wincig singled home Broughton for a 2-0 Bucknell lead.
A solo home run in the bottom of the second helped Lafayette cut into the Bucknell lead.
Bucknell added a run in the top of the third when Evan Madigan scored on a balk after reaching on a hit by pitch.
Another home run by the Leopards in the fourth inning kept Lafayette within one, 3-2.
Bucknell garnered a three-run advantage in the fifth inning after an error helped score Drizin before Hartman pulled in another RBI on a single through the right side that brought home Broughton.
The Bison couldn't manage to pull away however, with Lafayette pulling back two more runs in the bottom of the fifth on a two-run home run down the left field line.
In the bottom of the seventh, an error from the Bison allowed a run to score and tie things up at five.
Bucknell looked to reclaim the lead in the eighth and ninth, but managed only one baserunner after a walk from Evan Madigan with two outs in the ninth. Madigan stole second in the inning to put a potential winning run in scoring position, but was called out on an unassisted putout by the third baseman to end the inning.
The Leopards sealed the win with a leadoff walk, with the runner then moving to second on a passed ball. A groundout moved the winning run on third base with one out, which was eventually brought home on a sac fly to center field.
The Bison will conclude the three-game series at Lafayette on Sunday at 1 p.m.The game will be streamed live on the Patriot League Network.
