Bison Notes
- Bucknell heads into the game with a bit of momentum after earning a 6-4 win over Binghamton on a windy Wednesday afternoon at Depew Field.
- Bucknell's win was just the second time this season that the Bison have managed a win after scoring six runs or fewer. Bucknell's other win came in a 2-0 shutout win over Army back on March 23.
- Caleb Broughton, playing shortstop for the first time this season, had a solid day for Bucknell, tying his career-high with three RBIs to help lead Bucknell.
- Broughton continues to lead the Bison in average this season at .321, which ranks ninth in the Patriot League.
- Dominic Toso and Tyler Wincig also posted multi-hit games on Wednesday, including Wincig's team-leading fourth home run of the season in the first frame.
- Wincig is one of only six players in the Patriot League to have belted four home runs or more this season.
- Toso is among the league leaders in hits this season with 33 overall, tied for fifth in the league to date. He has also posted ten multiple-hit games this season.
- JohnPaul Bell had his hit streak end at 15 on Wednesday against the Bearcats, his longest career streak.
- Bell still had quite a ways to go to catch Bucknell's all-time mark of 27 set by Kevin Silverman in 1995 and Randy Ruger in the 69 and 70 seasons.
- Bucknell holds a winning record (7-6), when Bell hits in the cleanup spot in the lineup.
- The Bison have outscored their opponents by a combined 37-19 in the eighth and ninth inning this season.
- In Hunter Robichaux's last five appearances out of the bullpen, the senior from Dallas, Texas has allowed just three hits while striking out 12 batters. Robichaux's ERA has also dropped from 4.31 to 3.20 over that time span.
- Brenden Tuttle has also posted several strong relief outings, pitching a scoreless inning against Army on March 31 to earn the win before pitching two scoreless frames against the Bearcats to maintain the Bucknell lead.
- Alex Baumann is hitting .357 in conference games this season.
- Nate Grisius is third in the Patriot League in opponent batting average at this point in the season, allowing hitters to hit just .205 against him.
- Lafayette is 8-18 this season overall, and has lost three out of its last four games after being swept at home by Navy and earning a midweek win at Villanova on Tuesday.
- The Leopards have been able to score runs this season, scoring eight times or more in eight games this season.
- Justin Johnson is tied for fourth in the Patriot League in average, hitting .340 this season. He has also added ten doubles.
- The Leopards are 3-4 in Patriot League play so far this season. Lafayette took three of four at Lehigh to open league play before the three-game sweep to Navy on March 31.
- In a wild 24-13 loss to Navy in game two, Richard Villa went 3-for-5 with a career-high five RBIs.
- The Bison will play a midweek game at Towson on Tuesday, April 9 at 3 p.m. before a three-game series at home vs. Holy Cross on Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14.
